NITDA DG to CCHub: Says We Want Incubation Hubs to Thrive

The Nigerian government said it is set to promote Nigerians with innovative ideas, as reiterated Dr Vincent Olatunji, acting director general of NITDA at Idea Hub and Co Creation Hub Yaba, recently.

The CcHUB – the dream of two determined young men gave birth to Nigeria’s first innovation hub exactly 5 years ago.

With a deep sense of responsibility, the founders took on the challenge of building a platform capable of spotting and supporting smart Nigerians to build the future Nigerian’s collectively desire.

Dr Vincent Olatunji stated that NITDA hopes to bring together major ICT Industry Players and create a platform to harness opportunities and encourage growth of the Start-Ups ecosystem in Nigeria.

He further stated that government is interested in seeing that incubation centres such as idea hub and CC hub thrives and that NITDA is committed to support Start-Ups, SMEs and entrepreneurs with investment opportunities, mentorship and tools to make great ideas come to life.

He emphasized that SMEs represent an essential source of economic growth in industrialized countries, as well as in emerging economies.

Mr Bosun Tijani, CEO, CCHub expressed his gratitude over the visit stated that the future belongs to entrepreneurs who are able to address social challenges in commercially sustainable ways.

He encouraged the government to also pay attention, not only to the Start-Ups but also to the civil society, “we need to work with Start-Ups, enable Civil Society Organizations and inspire Public and Private Partnerships that will strengthen our ability to support innovation as a nation, it is easy when people talk about Start-Ups but haven’t thought of Civil Society and those that make social change and how to empower them to use technology. Encouraging these set of people is indirectly supporting innovation”.
