LinkedIn is following in the footsteps of Facebook and WhatsApp, giving up on Blackberry.

According to message sent to subscribers, LinkedIn team has given November 27, 2017 as the day it will retire the existing Blackberry App.

The message reads, “We are retiring the existing LinkedIn Blackberry App on November 27, 2017, which means the app icon will remain on your phone but will no longer work.

“You can continue to use LinkedIn on your Blackberry phone by going to www.linkedin.com from your mobile web browser. From there you'll be able to access the full range of LinkedIn features, some of which were not available on the Blackberry App.

“Thanks for being a part of the LinkedIn community.

Recall, in March 2016, Facebook dropped support for BlackBerry's mobile operating systems, which forced BlackBerry owners to use the social network's mobile website if they'd like to access it on the go.

Lou Gazzola, BlackBerry's senior marketing manager for developer relations, announced the news in a blog post.

Just a month earlier, Facebook-owned WhatsApp announced it would discontinue its Blackberry 10 and BBOS apps by the end of the year.

"We are extremely disappointed in their decision, as we know so many users love these apps. We fought back to work with WhatsApp and Facebook to change their minds, but at this time, their decision stands," wrote Gazzola then. "Despite this, we have worked hard to ensure that our end-users have the best experience in light of this decision, and we are continuing to search for alternate solutions."

Facebook and now LinkedIn decided to cut off support for its "essential APIs," meaning BlackBerry’s third-party apps will cease functioning.
