The Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) are strategic in driving productivity and efficiently in all sectors of the economy as virtually all sectors leverage ICT for optimal performance, said Dr (Mrs) Nike Akande, president, Lagos Chamber of Commerce & Industry (LCCI).
Akande who was speaking at the third Information Communication and Telecommunications Expo (ICTEL2016) in Lagos, said that the impact of ICT is felt in the financial sector, where electronic banking is now the vogue; the agricultural sector, where government now allocates fertilizer through mobile phones to farmers; the consumer goods sector where online stores and e-commerce has brought an incredible transformation to retail business; and many more.
The LCCI President said, “ICT has become the backbone of businesses. Nigeria has witnessed a phenomenal growth in its ICT sector over the past one and half decades. But there are still enormous potentials yet untapped”.
She said that as the foremost private sector body in Nigeria (since 1888), the Lagos Chamber is providing, through this expo, a credible platform to advance the opportunities and linkages in the world ICT. We are committed to the building of economic and commercial bridges across all subsectors and players in the ICT sector. We plan to continuously broaden the horizon and scope of coming from closer interactions and business integration among ICT players and their customers.
