Holy Family Catholic Church, Festac Town, Lagos has empowered its community youths.
The event, held at the church’s event centre in Festac, under the theme: ‘Youth Empowerment Initiative/Web Portal Launch’, is an initiative of the Catholic Youth Organisation of Nigeria (CYON).
Guests, including Mr. Ugochukwu Umeogwuo, a financial expert and motivational speaker, and Mr. Ezekiel, an author, treated the youths, mainly from the church diocese, to life changing topics geared towards building self-confidence, making the right decision and confronting challenges that withhold starters from succeeding in business.
Omeogwuo spoke on why youth fail even when they are well informed. He said that discipline in financial management is important.
“Education is the progressive study of our economics. Until a man is ready to learn, he will not change. Without discipline, information is baseless. Study is a royal behaviour. Makes study your important behaviour”, he said.
Mr. Ezekiel, who spoke on ‘Dream Build Sell’, revealed the secret to success, saying it is through orderly observing the game.
The coordinator, Holy Family Catholic Church Youth Empowerment Initiative, Rev Father Simeon Irabor, said, “We want to impact life because our youths need something to fall back on as our society has failed them.
We decided to leverage on the fact that youths have a lot in them and should be partakers of their own future.
The programmes are extensively for those in business but not doing so well and starters alike. With the information and knowledge they garnered here today, I believe they will definitely make an impact in their society.
With the portal, they can easily log on the site and get information that will be beneficial to doing business and other things.”
