Airtel Receives Commendations for Role in MDGs

Airtel Nigeria, has received commendations from villagers, Community Health Workers (CHWs) and residents of Pampaida Millennium Villages in Saulawa District of Ikara Local Government of Kaduna State.

The Stakeholders commendations were for Airtel’s contribution towards achieving the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), enriching the quality of life of people, reducing infant mortality, maternal mortality and morbidity rate in the state.

The noteworthy role of the telco which earned it the praises was spotlighted on Tuesday 26th during an extensive tour of the Pampaida Millennium Villages Project in Kaduna, one of the two Millennium Villages inaugurated by the Federal Government in May 2006 in line with the United Nations MDGs.

Following the establishment of the villages, Airtel Nigeria provided  ICT infrastructural support and data for the Millennium Villages healthcare programme tagged M-health (Mobile-health), a quick response health platform designed to enhance healthcare service delivery to people in the villages.
